Roy Burton Yates, 79, of Fulton, went home to be with Jesus on March 26, 2015 in Phelps County, MO. He was born on February 14, 1936 to Gilbert and Dorothy Yates in Mill Springs, MO. Bert was happy dong what he loved: fishing, hunting and preaching. He had been a chaplain at Truck Stop Ministries for a decade and enjoyed learning God's word and passing it on to others. He drove trucks for 35 years across the United States and went by "Saint" as his CB handle. He was a member of Harvestime Ministries of Holts Summit and Cowboys for Christ. He is survived by his siblings Ruth Boatsman, Myrtle Beach, SC; Gilbert (Linda) Yates of Marble Hill, MO; and Ronald (Helen) of Pittsburg, MO; four children Toney (Alayne) Yates of Bridgeton, MO; Joni Denson of Sullivan, MO; Christopher (Christine) Yates of Fort Collins, CO and Alisa (Alex) Rogers of Florida as well as 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Services were held at Harvestime Ministries in Holts Summit. The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation can be made in his honor at truckstopministries.org.
