Georgia Glenn Allen

Georgia Glenn (Tenney) Allen, 95, of Fulton, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at Fulton Presbyterian Manor. She was born September 18, 1918, in Millersburg, the daughter of the late Myron Wallace Tenney and the late Hallie Mae (Bedsworth) Tenney. Georgia was united in marriage to John Raymond Allen for 72 years. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2013. Georgia attended Kirksville State Teachers College and the University of Missouri Columbia during summers after graduating from high school in Montgomery City. She taught grade school at two Callaway County one-room schools. At the time of World War II, Georgia and John relocated to St. Louis where they lived for 55 years. Georgia enjoyed growing beautiful roses and crocheting delicate and intricate patterns. She was employed at JC Penney for 15 years. In retirement, Georgia and John moved back to the Fulton area in 1996. Georgia will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one daughter, Linda Vedder and husband Richard of Fulton; two grandchildren, Andy Vedder and wife Lisa of Milwaukee, Wis., and Cindy Penrod and husband David of Fulton; and four great-grandchildren, Noah and Claire Vedder and Josh and Brittany Penrod. In addition to her husband and parents, Georgia was preceded in death by one infant son, John Tenney Allen; two brothers, Don Tenney and Jack Tenney; and one sister, Jane Evelyn (Tenney) Fisher. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Paul Moessner and Pastor Julia Will officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be held at Callaway Memorial Gardens.
