Dorothy Young

Dorothy Ann Beasley Young, age 78, died Sunday, November 9, 2014, at the Katy Manor in Pilot Grove. She was born on February 26, 1936, near Fulton, the daughter of the late Daniel and the late Opal (Cleveland) Beasley. On May 12, 1954, Dorothy married Dean Young. He preceded her in death July 23, 2008. Dorothy and Dean owned and operated DA Young Materials for many years in New Cambria, Missouri. She had many dear friends in the Fulton area and always considered Fulton home. After retirement, they returned to the family farm in Fulton. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends whether it was fishing, cooking her perfect pork steaks, babysitting, playing cards, dancing, gardening, or just a good time of storytelling. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son, Brad Young and his wife Jane of New Cambria; her daughter, Janet Young of Pilot Grove; her daughter-in-law, Beverly Young of Clifton Hill; her grandchildren, Matthew Mayhew and wife Beth, Beth James and her husband Derek, Daniel Young and his wife Cassandra, and Maggie Young; her great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Ursula Gordon; her brother-in-law, Larry Young; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Dale, and her grandson, Christopher. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Steve Mallinckrodt officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorials to the Mt.
