Harold Leake

Harold Edward Leake, 90, of Fulton, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Riverview Nursing Center in Mokane. He was born October 22, 1923, in Perry, Missouri, the son of the late Claude Leake and the late Maude (Abell) Leake. On August 8, 1951, Harold was united in marriage to Mary Haiducek in Center, Missouri. She survives at their home. Harold proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army. He played violin with the Rooster Creek Show and Kingdomaires, entertaining people at senior centers and community halls on Saturday evenings. Harold farmed all his life and had an affinity for Farmall Tractors. He enjoyed long walks in the woods, cutting wood, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Along with his wife of nearly 63 years, Harold is survived by two sons, Chris Leake of Fulton, Francis Leake of Fulton; three daughters, Geralyn White (Danny) of Fulton, Sharon Schmohe (Steve) of Hannibal, and Donna Scoggins (Dean) of Fulton; 10 grandchildren, Michael White (Amanda), Melissa Comstock (Chuck), Quintin Schmohe, Corey Schmohe (Billie), Whitney Schmohe, Todd Leake (Maggie), Tanner Leake (Keila), Bryan Scoggins (Brittany), Blake Scoggins, and Justin Leake; and 10 great-grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Darvin, Albert and Chester Leake; and one sister, Erma West. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fulton with Father Frank Bussmann officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Maupin Funeral Home with a prayer service being held at 7:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will be in St. Paul Cemetery in Center, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made in Harold's name to the St. Peter's Catholic Church Building Fund, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251.
