Dolores Maxine Farris, 80 years, passed to heaven on Friday, July 11, 2014, at her home in Ava, with her family by her side, from a long illness. Dolores was born November 10, 1933, in Amazonia, Mo. to Finis and Lucille (Laubscher) Gueltzau. She graduated from Mokane High School in Mokane, Mo. On August 2, 1957, Dolores and James Gerald Farris were united in marriage in Steedman, Mo. and to this union two daughters were born, Marilyn and Laura. She was a Christian and a member of the Ava Church of Christ. Dolores taught Sunday School for many years, helped with the clothing and giveaway program and sang with the church group at many funerals. She was co-owner and manager with her husband, James of Farris Outlet Store in Ava, Mo. for several years. She also was a steamstress and loved sewing for many friends and family. Dolores also provided childcare in her home for many children. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and most of all, spending time with her family. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents and her husband James in 2008. Dolores is survived by two daughters, Marilyn and husband, Art Corum and Laura Camp and husband, Lawrence, all of Ava, Mo.; one granddaughter, Monica Denise Corum of Ava; two sisters and their spouses, Phyllis and Lowell Dean Vandeloecht, Fulton, Mo. and Judith and Bill Sheppard, Paducah, Ky. and other relatives and friends. Memorial services for Dolores will be Friday, July 18, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., at Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, Mo. with burial following in the Ava Cemetery. Officiating will be Harlin Howerton.
