Joyce Underwood

Joyce Kay Underwood, 72, of New Bloomfield, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Boone Hospital Center. On March 30, 1942, Joyce was born in Jefferson City to the late Howard Holzhauser and the late Opal (Tate) Holzhauser. Joyce was united in marriage to Larry C. Underwood on March 21, 1964. He survives at their home. Joyce worked as a Data Entry Clerk for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Division of Aging. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and a great cook. When she wasn't at the ballfields watching her grandchildren, she enjoyed reading, taking trips to the gambling boat with Larry, playing cards, and dancing. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tebbetts. Along with her husband of 50 years, Joyce's memory will be cherished by two daughters, Julie Kay Philbert (Bill) and Leigh Anne Love (Rob), all of New Bloomfield; and grandchildren, Miranda K. Love, Clark E. Philbert, Abbie N. Philbert, and Lena M. Love. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Minister Tom Tate officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Portland Cemetery.
