Gary Roger Ellis, 76, of New Bloomfield, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2014, at University Hospital in Columbia, surrounded by his wife and family. He was born on June 8, 1937, in Oakland California, the son of the late Roger Ellis and Elaine Gray of San Jose California. He married Wilma Terkelson in 1956, and was later divorced. In March 1971, he was married to Nancy Perry Moulton. Gary served in the US Army as an inspector of nuclear weapons in Germany. He worked independently for 49 years on water towers and many other small businesses. In 1983, he patented a baby chair called the "love seat". In 1994 and 1996, he ran for State Representative of Callaway County. He was currently employed by Bartlett and West Engineering of Jefferson City. Gary was a gregarious man who lived for adventure. He had an unequivocal zest for life that will be missed by all who knew him. Gary is survived by his wife Nancy Ellis of 43 years; his mother, Elaine Gray of San Jose, California; seven children, Roger Allen and wife Jill of Aliso Viejo, Calif., Soncerae Allen Boudreaux and husband Brett of Mt. Pleasant, Utah, Cindy Allen and husband Scott of Mt. Pleasant, Utah, Chad Moulton and wife Tammy, of Albany, Oregon, Kellie Holt and husband Dan of Fulton, Mo., Eric Ellis and wife Amy of Lafayette Colorado, Gina Ellis of Morgan Hill California; Charlie Baysinger and wife Sharon of Fulton; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Roger; one brother, Mike; and one son, Chris. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, from 6-8 p.m. and Funeral Service will be on Thursday, May 1, at 11 a.m., at Debo Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens.
