Paul Davis

Paul Davis, Jr., 89, of Mexico, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Golden Living Center-Pin Oaks. Paul was born on December 11, 1924, in Amarillo, TX, the son of Paul Ashcroft and Beulah (Tanner) Davis. On Dec. 24, 1947, he married Rose Marie Smith in Jefferson City, Mo. She preceded him in death on November 5, 1996. Paul was a 1942 graduate of Mexico High School. He was a lifelong 5th generation farmer. His farm was declared a Century Farm having been in the family since 1865. He was an outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed woodworking and had a talent for creating many beautiful pieces of furniture and clocks. He also had an eye for special rocks and stones and polished them to make jewelry. He is survived by his children, Glen Curtis Davis of Columbia, Marjorie "Mardi" Sells and husband, Danny of Mexico; grandchildren, Aaron Sells and wife, Tamara of Mexico, Michael Sells and wife Whitney, of Mexico, Molly Sells and Kylie Davis of Columbia; three great-grandchildren, Leah, Avery and Owen, many nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Maxine Smith. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Griffith and three brothers, Newton, William "Bill" and Harry Gene Davis. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 19th at 11:00 a.m., at Arnold Funeral Home with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation is from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
