John Morris

John H. Morris, 69, of Auxvasse, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, at his home surrounded by family. He was born December 27, 1943, in Bachelor, the son of the late Theodore Morris and the late Pearl (Morris) Morris. On December 14, 1963, he was united in marriage to Joyce (McConnell) Morris, who preceded him in death in 1990. The couple had five children, Lora, Lisa, Angela, Kari, and John. On November 11, 1992, John was united in marriage to Shirley (Carroz) Morris, who survives his passing at the home. John liked to fish, mushroom hunt and be outdoors, play cards with friends, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed working on his cars, a 1973 Mercury Montego and his 1988 Fox Body Mustang, which he loved. In addition to his wife, John will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by four daughters, Lora Watts and husband Jason of Ashland, Lisa Ballard and husband Bill of Columbia, Angela Morris of Columbia, and Kari Vermette and husband Roger of Columbia; one son, John Wesley Morris of St. Louis; 14 grandchildren, Amy Lee, Erica and Brayden Watts; Katie Taylor; Joshua Grantham; Zachary and Matthew Ballard; Adrianna Johnson; Elijah, Elaina, and Abigail Vermette; Alexis and Ava Morris; and Dylan Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Brandon Ballard and McKinley Lewis. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Grand Prairie Baptist Church in Auxvasse under the direction of Maupin Funeral Home with Pastor Benjamin Taylor officiating. Interment will be held in Auxvasse Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013, also at Grand Prairie Baptist Church in Auxvasse.
