Mary Bernice Brown

Mary Bernice Vernon Brown, 85, Sturgeon, Mo., passed away Monday, June 3, 2013, at the Jones Wildwood Care Center, Madison, Mo. Mary was born September 29, 1927, in Ames, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence Clark and Anna Bernice Brooks Vernon. On August 5, 1960, she was married to Richard Larry Brown and he preceded her in death August, 18, 1980. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Columbia, Mo. Mary graduated on June 14, 1949, in Louisville, Ky., with a Bachelor of Arts Degree; from the University of Missouri, Columbia, on June 8, 197, with a Doctor of Philosophy Degree. She taught at William Woods University, Fulton, Mo., for 20 years where her husband, Richard, was a teacher. Mrs. Brown was an avid reader and often read Amish books. Survivors include the Administrative Staff and friends at Jones Wildwood Care Center, Madison, Mo. She had resided there for eight years which had become her family and was so dearly loved by everyone. Funeral services will be held at Fenton Funeral Chapel, Centralia, Friday, June 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., with Burdett Cook officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, north of Sturgeon, Mo. Visitation will be held Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials are suggested to the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in c/o Fenton Funeral Chapel, 104 South Collier Street, Centralia. Pallbearers will be Chris Jones, Elton Fay, Bill Frazier, Bart Arends, Randy Burke and Chad Puckett.
