William E Bowen Sr.

William E. Bowen Sr., 72, of Fulton, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011, at Fulton Manor Care Center. He was born on February 3, 1939 in Pawnee, Illinois, the son of the late George G. Bowen and Bertha May (Davis) Bowen. He was united in marriage to Betty Gail Rice in August of 1959. She preceded him in death on June 9, 1998. On April 15, 2000, he was united in marriage to Brenda (Adams) Bowen, who survives his passing. William was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was an avid deer and coon hunter and an all-around sportsman. William loved hanging out at the coffee shops and watching old Western movies. In addition to his wife, William will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons, Gene Bowen of Columbia and Robert Wilson of Little Rock, Ark.; four step-sons, Billy Brewer and wife Amy of Fulton, Steven Brewer of Mississippi, David Brewer of Texas, and Philip Brewer of Fulton; two daughters, Sheila Bowen Davis of Jefferson City and Becky Coffin of Unionville; one step-daughter, Megan Grissom of Norfolk, Va.; three brothers, Lester Bowen of Pacific, Roger Bowen of Arnold, and Roy Bowen of Villa Ridge; two sisters, Myrtie Rogers of Riverton, Ill. and Georgia Griffin of St. Louis; seven grandchildren and six step-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowen was preceded in death by two brothers, Ira Bowen and Gayle Bowen; and two sisters, Lois Kessinger and Dorothy Jackson. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2011, at Maupin Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at Maupin Funeral Home.
