Helen Marie Griggs

Helen Marie Griggs, 90, of Fulton, passed away Friday, May 13, 2011, at Callaway Community Hospital. She was born November 4, 1920, in Carrollton, the daughter of the late Bennie Hugh and Lily (Smith) Poe. On October 19, 1940, she was united in marriage to George W. "Bill" Griggs, who preceded her in death in 1989. She graduated from Hickman High School. She was a homemaker, who also worked a variety of clerical jobs outside the home in her early married life. She was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church in Fulton. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son, Johnnie (June) Griggs of Columbia; one sister, Kathryn (Bill) Wheeler of Kansas City; one grandson, Ian (Doraliz) Griggs of Round Hill, Virginia; one great grandson, Jacob Griggs; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents and one brother, Arnold Lee Poe, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton. Interment will be held at Callaway Memorial Gardens.
