Anita Atterberry, 71, of Fulton, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Boone Hospital Center, following a battle with cancer. She was born to the late Paul Lockett and the late Wanda (Lyle) Lockett in Fulton on May 26, 1950. On April 12, 1988, Anita was united in marriage to Roger Atterberry. He survives her passing. Prior to being able to spend her days caring for her family full-time, Anita worked at Brown and Stride Rite Shoe Factories. She enjoyed watching television, especially BBQ Pit Masters and baseball. Her favorite team was the Atlanta Braves. Anita was a collector of dolls and angels. She also had a vast collection of holiday decorations and would decorate for the next holiday as soon as taking down decorations for the one just passed. Anita was a loving protector of her family, praying for their safety several times each day. She will belovingly remembered by her husband of more than 33 years, Roger; daughters, Shelly Basnett of Fulton, Kimmy Witt (Eric) of Mexico; step-sons, Randy Atterberry (Carrie) of Kingdom City, Darrell Atterberry of Fulton, and Richard Atterberry of W. Va.; step-daughter, Crystal Atterberry of Fulton; brother, Larry Lockett of Fulton; grandchildren that Anita and Roger raised, Brendon and Shayla; grandchildren, Zach Welch, Shyan Clark, and Faith Clark, as well as several other grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and another on the way. In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by her son, Shawn Paul Basnett. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Hillcrest Cemetery with Pastor Mike Crowson officiating.
