Ruby Josephine Robertson

Ruby Josephine Robertson, 98, formerly of Fulton, passed away in her sleep at The Arbors on Sunday, November 14, 2021. She was born in Mokane, Missouri on June 5, 1923, to the late August H. Lehman and the late Verlena (Benson) Lehman. Ruby was married to (Toad) Harry Elmer Morts who preceded her in death on May 25, 1965. She later married Vernon Dale Robertson, WWII veteran, on April 21, 1968. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2011. At five years old, Ruby was riding a horse to school by herself. At 19, Ruby owned Ruby's Sandwich Shop in Fulton. At 21, she was a mother to one and a stepmother to five. Prior to her retirement, Ruby was a bookkeeper for Saults Drug Store. She enjoyed visiting the V.F.W., dancing, listening to Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr., winning at BINGO, bowling, loving on her multiple poodles, most named Sissy, and having a vodka tonic or two. She will be fondly remembered for her tiny size, fantastically sharp elbows and tongue, by grandchildren, Stephanie Behan (David) and Steve Rovik; great-grandchildren, Payton Behan, Brock Behan (Natzha), Anna Behan, Taylor Baker, and Addison Kaullen; step-son, Richard Keith Morts of Lutz, Fla.; son-in-law, Lee Roy Rovik; many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and loving niece, Mary Ann Buffington (Jim). In addition to her parents and husbands, Ruby was preceded in death by daughter, Bette Jean Morts (Rovik); step-sons, Robert (Bob) Lee Morts, Kennith D. Morts, and stepdaughters, Marian Louise Morts (Whitcomb), Doris Ann Morts (Sheley); brother, Benson Lehman; and sister, Virginia May Schwermer. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Hillcrest Cemetery with Reverend Gary Garrett officiating. Incredible gratitude is felt for those who cared for Ruby-Du at The Arbors Memory Care facility in Mexico, Mo.
