Dennis Alan Day, age 68, of Williamsburg, Mo., formerly of Grafton, Ill., passed away Friday, May 21, 2021, at his home. He was born on March 22, 1953, in Alton, Ill., the son of Stokely Jr. and Gladys (Kanallakan) Day. He married Beverly (Wolfe) McKane in 1972. His daughter Erica was born to this union. Dennis remarried on September 12, 2009, to his loving wife, Beverly (Burney) Day, of Williamsburg, Mo. She survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Erica (Jason) Swagler, Candice Smith, Sara (Matthew) Burney and Tiffany (John) Droste; numerous foster children; eight grandchildren, Olivia, Sydney, Julie, Jesika, Pacey, Nova, Rosalyn and Penelope; two brothers, Danny (Linda) Day and Tracy (Denise) Day; nephew Christian Day; and nieces, Hayley and Hannah Over the years, he was the owner of several businesses including Day's Suzuki, Superior Auto Body, auto adjustor with Allstate Insurance, Redneck's Bar and Grill in Fieldon, Ill., Alderman for the City of Grafton, Ill., riverboat Captain affectionately earning the name Captain D", and an officer of H.O.G. Dennis enjoyed NASCAR races, concerts by one his favorite bands, El Monstero. He had a talent for working with his hands and had numerous hobbies over the years including riding and racing dirt bikes, boating, bass fishing, woodworking, building model boats and cars (a collection of nearly 50). He rode Harley Davidson motorcycles and taught motorcycle safety training classes throughout southern Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sherry Day.
