Beulah Belle (Cave) McCubbin

Beulah Belle (Cave) McCubbin, 89, passed from this earth to her eternal home with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 2, 2021. Beulah was born in Callaway County near Dixie, Mo. She was the youngest of 14 children born to Marcellus Weber and Beulah Corley Cave. Beulah attended Cave School for the lower grades then graduated from New Bloomfield High School where she met the love of her life, Clyde McCubbin. After being wed in 1949, at Dixie Church, they lived in Columbia then moved to Dallas/Fort Worth to work and start their family. They moved back to Missouri and bought a farm and completed their family in the Clark/Sturgeon/Harrisburg area. Beulah and Clyde were married for 72 years. After returning to Missouri, Beulah and Clyde ran the Wheel-In restaurant at the Bebe Drive-in in Centralia, Mo. She then went to work at State Farm Insurance Company for a short time before moving on to MFA/Shelter Insurance Company where she retired in 1996, as a Senior Commercial Underwriter after serving the company for 32 years. Beulah enjoyed being a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She liked to tend vegetable and flower gardens, cook, can, sew, and make rag rugs on a loom. She was a 4-H leader sharing many of these skills. Beulah was a member and faithful servant of Perche Baptist Church, clerking, hosting, teaching young children in VBS and Sunday School, and serving her church and community in many other ways. Beulah is survived by her husband, Clyde H. McCubbin; four children and their spouses: Hazel (Randy) Thornhill, Charles (Yolette) McCubbin, Debby (Gary) Maiden, Cindy (Marty) Bowne; 10 grandchildren: Barbi (Fritz) Schnarre, Mikal (Jennifer) Thornhill, Jared (Morgunn) Thornhill, Charles Allen (Brandi) McCubbin, Sarah (Dan deceased) McCubbin, Rachel (Oodong) Vongsay, Jonathan McCubbin, Benjamin (Kim) Maiden, Heather (Richie) McMenomy, Joni (Dan) Carr, Devon (Kimmy) Bowne; 18 great-grandchildren: Alee, Brecca, and Myals Thornhill, Jillian, Gabby, and Silas Thornhill, Faith McCubbin, Jaydan McCubbin, Sloan McCubbin, Michael, Andrew, and Aryssa Vongsay, Madison Rollins, Alexis and Keegan Maiden, Autumn, Lydia, and Willow McMenomy; two sisters: Katy Wilson of Albuquerque, N.M., Norma Jean Dozier of Dallas, Texas; one brother: Andy "Popeye" Cave of New Bloomfield, Mo.; many, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters: Hattie Locke, Edna Schreen, Mary Elizabeth Cave, Rubye Starks, Helen Leet; five brothers: A.J. "Chig" Cave, William "Tom" Cave, Woodrow "Woody" Cave, John "Bill" Cave, Marcellous "Dick" Cave; one grandson: Daniel Clyde McCubbin. Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, Mo. on Thursday, May 6. Graveside services and burial was at Perche Cemetery in northern Boone County on Friday, May 7, at 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations are suggested to the Perce Creek Cemetery Working Fund.
