Tom Fleming, age 78, of Jonesboro, Ark., passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, March 19, 2021, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House following a year-long battle with brain cancer. He was surrounded by his family: wife. Patsy Fleming; son, Mark Stogsdill; and daughter, Leigh Ann Coulon. Tom was born July 29, 1942, to Sam Fleming and Betty Reid Fleming and grew up in Fulton, Mo. He graduated from University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. in 1965, where he played football. His first job was teaching and coaching in Hannibal, Mo. high school from 1965-1968. He lived and worked for several years on a ranch in West Texas, before joining Dow Elanco as an Agricultural Chemical Salesman in 1970. He retired from Elanco after 30 successful years and was known by many as the 'Treflan Man' throughout Northeast Arkansas farming community. After retirement, he worked in Crop Insurance Sales for Stanley and Co. in Lepanto, continuing to enjoy his time with the farmers in Northeast Arkansas. He retired in 2020. Tom and Patsy attended First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro, Ark. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Fleming of the home; children, Mark (Mary) Stogsdill of Pegram, Tenn., daughter, Leigh Ann (Don) Coulon of East End, Ark., step-son, David Richardson of Kent, Wash.; grandchildren, Ashley Jackson and son Bryce of East End, Ark. and Jeremy Thomas (Julia) Coulon and their children Jaxon, Tatum, Cooper, and Beau Thomas of Spring, Texas. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Betty Fleming; and wife, Judy Fleming, to whom he was married for 39 year. Memorial and celebration of Tom's life was held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Emerson Funeral Home. Family requests lasting memorials be made to Mount Olive Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Melbourne, Ark., a historic, active church started in 1826 that Tom loved and supported for many years.
