Ricky Ray Smith, 69, of Fulton, was called to his Heavenly home on Saturday, March 20, 2021. He was born on August 22, 1951, in Salem, Missouri to the late Ray Smith and Lenna (Garrison) Smith. On June 30, 1973, Rick was united in marriage to Glenda (Bush) Smith. She survives his passing. Rick enjoyed following the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs, and time spent with his grandchildren. He worked for KLWT, KSMO, KFAL/KKCA, and KMFC radio stations. While he wore many hats at each station, his favorite tasks were announcing sports and broadcasting gospel radio shows. Rick was a deacon and music leader at Richland Baptist Church and a man of strong and unwavering faith. He was a member and strong supporter of Gideon's International. He was active in their prison ministry for more than 30 years and was instrumental in leading many prisoners to the Lord. He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Glenda; mother, Lenna Smith of Fulton; daughters, Cindy Bennett (Josh) of Nixa and Rebecca Clayberg (Phillip) of Mountain Home, Ark.; grandchildren, Brynlee Bennett, Easton Clayberg, Ronald Clayberg, and Melissa Clayberg; and great-grandchildren, Ky'Aire Bratten and Maquelah Clayberg. In addition to his father, Rick was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Smith. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 26, 2021, at Richland Baptist Church with Pastor Nick Drake officiating. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton. Interment will be in Boone Creek Cemetery in Licking, Mo.
