Walter Gene Miller

Walter Gene Miller, 84, of Mokane, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021, at his home. He was born in Steedman, Missouri on April 9, 1936, to the late Elmer Miller and the late Dorothy (Becker) Miller. On September 8, 1956, Walter was united in marriage to Janett (Mealy) Miller. She survives at their home. Walter retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation following 32 years of service. He was a member of Mokane United Methodist Church and 50+ year member of Mokane Masonic Lodge #612. Walter spent a good portion of his life at a ballfield supporting his grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working cattle. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Janett; sons, Randy Miller (Karen) of Ashland, Roger Miller of Mokane, and Robert Miller of Steedman; daughter, Rhonda Tate of Mokane; sister, Joyce Mealy of Mokane; brother-in-law, Delbert Mealy (Barbara) of Jefferson City; 12 grandchildren, Teresa Arrowood, Crystal Laughlin, Kara Mabery, Kyle Miller, David Miller, Kevin Miller, Tonya Miller, Ashley Miller, Bradley Miller, Trevor Miller, Stacy Miller, and Alaney Miller; 18 great-grandchildren and another on the way. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Sharon Miller; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Mealy. Funeral services were held on Friday, January 29, 2021, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Reverend Kay Hord officiating. Interment was in Steedman Cemetery.
