Ancell James "Jim" Reid III, 71, of Fulton, died Monday, December 28, 2020, at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. He was born on September 24, 1949, in Fulton, Missouri, to Ancell James Reid II and Geraldine Mae (Powers) Reid. He graduated from Fulton High School in 1967 and attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins from 1967-1970, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. Jim then attended St. Louis College of Pharmacy and graduated in 1973. After moving back to Fulton, he went into business with his father as co-owner of Lain-Myers Rexall Drug in Fulton until closing the store in 1987. He continued practicing pharmacy at various stores in mid-Missouri until his retirement in March of 2019. He obtained a private pilot's license in the 1970s and was a lifelong lover of golf, which his mother taught him to play. He enjoyed chess, cooking meals for his family, and traveling, especially to the Western states. Jim is survived by four children: Kristine (Mark) Smith of Olathe, Kansas; Brian (Crystal) Reid of Littleton, Colorado; and Aidan and Andrew Reid of Fulton. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Carson and Austin Smith and Lucy and Margot Reid; niece, Karen Weston; and nephew, Michael Kolodziej. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles Lynwood Reid; and his sister, Roberta Jean Kolodziej. Per Jim's wishes, there will be no service. He chose to be cremated, and his ashes are to be scattered somewhere beautiful out West at a later date by his children. Condolences may be left for the family at www.maupinfuneralhome.com.
