Paul Edward Cheney, 67, of Portland, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021. He was born in Mt. Home, Ark., on December 8, 1953, to the late Cardest Roots Cheney and the late Vera Lurlene (Stine) Cheney. Paul proudly served in the United States Navy as a 2nd Class Aviation Boatswain Mate aboard the USS Enterprise. He remained a Navy man even after retirement and maintained a love for ships. Paul also loved science, drawing, and animals. It was important to him to continue learning throughout his life. His nature was to always put his family above all else. He will be fondly remembered by son, Michael Wilcox of Lafayette, La.; brothers, Kenneth Cheney (Kathy), and Walter "Bimbo" Cheney (Jana); sisters, Katherine Atterberry and Sherry Baker (Dennis); and dozens of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a brother, Charles "Chuck" Cheney; and sisters, Karen Earll and Hazel Cheney. Private family services will be held at a later date.
