Beatrice (Bea) O. Jones, 90, of Fulton, Mo., passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021, at Fulton Manor. She was born on March 13, 1930 in Guthrie, Mo. She was the daughter of Burton and Bessie Vaughn Nevins. Bea was united in marriage to Thomas Jones Jr. on October 4, 1969. Bea started her working career as a cook at the Callaway Memorial Hospital. Later she went to work for the Fulton State Hospital as a Psychiatric Aid II until her retirement. She loved her Callaway Memorial Hospital, so she went back as a nurse's aide on her off days. Once retired from the State, she continued with Callaway until her final retirement. She loved her nursing career. She assisted many different families by taking care of their loved ones in their homes. She also gave meds out to the tenants of Jefferson Lodge part-time after her retirement. She joined Oak Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, where she served faithfully until her illness. Bea never met a stranger and will be missed by many. Bea leaves to cherish her memory: one son, James Holt (Glenda), Omaha Neb.; loving niece, Shirley Vaughn, Fulton Mo.; one step-daughter, Claudia Jones-Lewis, McKinney, Texas; three step-sons, Marcus Jones (Maureen), Keller, Texas, Terrence Jones, McKinney, Texas, and Ray McGuire (April), Marysville, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Bertha Tidwell, Oak Creek, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Diane Thompson, Columbia, Mo., Nathan Holt (Natalie), Lawrence, Kan., Dr. Monica Alto (Juan), Milwaukee, Wis., Kursten Lewis, McKinney, Texas, Trent Jones, Collin Mitchell, Wylie, Texas, Taylor Jones-Chef (Justin), Snohomish, Wash., Marcus Jones Jr. (Sable), Celina, Texas; eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: both parents, husband, three sisters, six brothers, one granddaughter, two sisters-in-law, and nine brothers-in-law. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton. Masks and social distancing are required at the graveside service.
