Martha Sue Davis, age 96, died on Friday, November 26, 2021, in the Comfort Care Center of Boone Hospital. She was born on October 18, 1925, in Fulton, the daughter of the late Charles Albert and Clara Rice Powell. On March 7, 1947, she married Joseph E. Davis, who preceded her in death in 2002. She attended Fulton High School and William Woods College. After her marriage, she was the admissions secretary at William Woods College for several years before becoming a stay-at-home mother for her two children. She enjoyed playing golf and bowling with her friends. She loved to walk, read, cook dinners for her family, and spend time with her great-grandchildren. After being an active member of Court Street United Methodist Church for 85 years, she became a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, following God's plan for her. Her survivors include her children, Joseph Richard Davis (Kris), and Debra Kay Davis; grandchildren, Joe Davis (Megan), Jessie Back (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Elliot, Luke and Micah Davis, and Gavin, Davis and Trevor Back; plus several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four sisters, Celesta Cannell, Grace Chirnside McKissick, Ruth Moore, and Jessie Powell; and brother, Lloyd Powell. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastors Neil Dye and Wyatt Allen officiating. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
