Robert Wickell age 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, in Clarkston, Michigan. Robert was born in Fulton, Mo. on February 7, 1930, to Henry H. and Mina C. Wickell who preceded him in death. Bob attended Fulton Public Schools graduating from Fulton High School in 1948. He was student manager of the Hornets football team for several years, among his other High School activities. Robert attended Westminster College in Fulton and obtained his bachelor's degree from Oakland University in Michigan. Bob moved to Pontiac, Mich. in his early 20's to begin his career in the automotive industry. Among his work positions, he was with the GM Pontiac division, and retired from General Motors after forty plus years. Robert married Barbara Morawski, October 1984, in Pontiac, Mich. They had guests from Fulton, Mo, Mina AND Henry Wickell, and June Russell, and a number of relatives and friends who lived near them in Michigan. Bob and Barbara enjoyed their years together. They were season ticket holders to the Detroit Lions and attended many football games. They built their home, Wickmor Place in Clarkston with a greenhouse on the property, where they both enjoyed having plants and flowers all year around. Bob and Barbara joined their church choir, and he was a member of the Motor City Chorale. Among some of his and Barbara's favorite activities were visiting with Wickell relatives, wherever the relatives were living whether Chicago Ill., Arlington, Va., or Hartford, Conn. Bob even joined the family on one trip to Alaska. He always made time for Pinochle games, Bob and his card partner wished to be the team that was dealt the best hand, to be winners! His other activity at Thanksgiving was to make his Mother's divinity recipe. Over the years it became different colors and flavors. Bob was also known to make several batches of divinity to share with his co-workers at GM before Christmas. Surviving are Bob's sisters, Lola W. Herring (Jan P) and Virginia Simmons (Paul Carver) of Fulton. He was preceded in death by his sister, June W. Russell (Maurice B) of Fulton, and brother, Daniel G. Wickell (Barbara K) of Chicago. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Bob was entombed at Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton, August 25, 2021, as he wished. There will be a Memorial Service for Robert officiated by his great-nephew, Pastor Alexander K. Wickell on September 4, 2021, at Maupin Funeral Home. The Visitation is at 11:00 a.m. and the Service will begin at 12:00 noon.
