Wilmon Carl Smithee

Wilmon Carl Smithee, 78, of Auxvasse, passed away at Boone Hospital on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. He was born in Auxvasse, Missouri on November 12, 1942, to the late Wilmon Cody Smithee and the late Elizabeth (Lee) Smithee. On May 22, 1976 Wilmon was united in marriage to Jean (Kahmke) Smithee who survives his passing. Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife of 44 years, Jean; daughters, Heather Brown (Dale) of Auxvasse, and Ashley McGlynn (Jason) of The Woodlands, Texas; brothers, Kenny Smithee (Dawn) of Everton, Ark., and Ronnie Smithee (Phyllis) of Auxvasse; sisters Betty Knipp (Donal) of Auxvasse and Molly Shellabarger (Wayne) of Mexico; grandchildren, Abigail, Dale Alan, Olivia, and Johnathan Brown and Ronan, and Harper McGlynn; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wilmon graduated from Auxvasse High School in 1960. He worked as a building contractor operating, Smithee Construction, for over 50 years. Wilmon met Jean on one of his projects and built her a house as a wedding gift. He was an extremely strong-willed, hardworking, independent man. He possessed an implausible work ethic, strong faith, and always put others before himself. Wilmon enjoyed being around family and debating politics with his brothers and sisters. His greatest joy was watching his grandchildren and working on the family farm. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers David, Clint, and Dale Smithee. Private family services will be held with burial in Auxvasse Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Maupin Funeral Home to be used for the new Auxvasse Community Center, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251.
