Raymond Smith, 79, of Auxvasse, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. He was born on May 27, 1941, in West Virginia to the late Oscar Brown "O.B." Smith and the late Mae (Dalton) Smith. On November 19, 1964, Raymond was united in marriage to Linda (Logerman) Smith. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2017. For many years, Ray work as a brick setter for A.P. Green in Mexico. He was also an auctioneer where he was known as Colonial Ray. In his younger years, he enjoyed pitching horseshoes and coon hunting. More recently, Ray enjoyed trips to the casino. He will be fondly remembered by son, Roger Smith (Rhonda) of Naylor; daughters, Sandy Montgomery (Mark), and Susan Blackston, all of Auxvasse; brother, Con Smith (Joyce) of Mexico; grandchildren, Denny Smith (Sierra Harriman) of Springfield, Daniel Smith of Naylor, Megan McAlexander (Eric) of Archie, Emily Gerke (Tyler) of Smithton, and Shawn Blackston (Laura) of St. Robert; great-granddaughter, Charli Gerke; step-great-granddaughter, Addy Cantrell; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Ray was preceded in death by brothers, Harold and Fred Smith; and sisters, Evelyn Lumbo and Margaret McClanahan. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 19, 2021, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Paul Klepees officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Auxvasse Cemetery.
