Noel Anerson Crowson, 73, of Auxvasse, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on February 2, 1947 in Rantoul, Illinois to the late Noel Richard Crowson and the late Loma (Green) Crowson. Noel was married on May 4, 1996 to Mary Ann (Bono) Crowson, who survives his passing. Noel retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Colonel with 37 years of service having enlisted in 1965. He served in Vietnam with the 82nd Airborne Division and completed his military career as Battalion Commander of the 620th CSB earning the rank of Colonel in 2006. In his life as a private citizen, Noel worked as the District Supervisor over residential facilities, was the Asst. Social Service Director in Warren County, Virginia; Director of Social Services in Scott County, Virginia; Senior Supervisor in the Texas Department of Human Services in Ft. Worth/Dallas; and Executive Director of Mid-Missouri Behavioral Center in Missouri. He was a published author with articles in several magazines and three books. He was often called upon to speak to groups regarding various subjects and was well-known for his ability to entertain his audiences. After retirement, Noel participated in ranching with his son, Christopher. He was an active member of the Auxvasse Lions Club, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the VFW. He was the Pastor of the High Point Community Chapel for the last 20 years. His greatest joy, however, was his position of Pastor of the High Point Community Chapel where he would share God's Word with anyone who came to services. He loved spending time with his grandsons, family, and friends; checking on the cows and peacefully watching them; auctions of any type and watching Fox News in his recliner. Noel will be missed by his wife, Mary Ann; son, Christopher (Taylor) Crowson of Auxvasse; step-son, Clayton (Karla) Gray of Kansas City; daughter, Karen Crowson of Fairfield, Idaho; step-daughter, Christine (Tony) Philpot of Webb City; brother, Clifton (Shawna) Crowson of Avant, Oklahoma; sisters, Robin Parrish of Madill, Oklahoma, Nolona (Kenny) Chaney of Marietta, Oklahoma; three grandsons, Reuben and Levi Crowson; Nathan Gray; and four granddaughters, Sydney, Ashley and Hally Philpot, Addison Gray. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2020 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor James Johnston officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville.
