Marguerite Grace Hoffman Backer, 85, of Fulton, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 27, 2020. Marguerite was born on December 17, 1934, in Auxvasse, Missouri at Goose Hill. She was the daughter of Albert "Buss" Hoffman and the late Louise Virginia (Wallace) Hoffman. She was a 1951 graduate of Fulton High School. Marguerite was married to Albert Backer on September 18, 1953, in Fulton, Missouri. They shared 46 loving years before his passing. Marguerite was an active member of the Hams Prairie Christian Church where she was passionate about creating floral arrangements for all seasons and holidays and building relationships with her church family. A member of the Show-Me State China Club, she was a prolific artist who enjoyed working in watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting. Her favorite subjects to paint were old barns, flowers, and sunsets along with bottles she painted and filled with lights. She loved others through her art and often loved making gifts for friends and family. She was also and employee of the Callaway Bank for 42 years. She cherished her career and loved each and every customer she served. Marguerite will be greatly missed by her daughter, Donna Roewe (Duane) of Fulton; son, Dwayne Backer (Darla) of Mokane; grandchildren, Cody Roewe (Abby) of Creve Coeur, Dr. Lindsey Backer-Fulghum (Harry) of Wichita, Kan., Brice Roewe (Lauren) of Springfield, and Landen Backer (Caitlyn) of Mokane; and great-grandchildren, Gideon and Araya Roewe, and Asher Fulghum. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Charles Robert and Joe Wallace Hoffman; and great-grandson, Aiden Tyler Fulghum. Private graveside services will be held at Callaway Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
