Wanda M. Wickell, 97, of Fulton, passed away at Boone Hospital Center on Thursday, July 16, 2020. Wanda was born in Jefferson City, Missouri, on September 2, 1922, the daughter of the late Stella Owens Taggart and Oat Taggart. She was a graduate of J.C. Senior High School. Wanda loved to roller skate in her early years, and it was at a Fulton roller rink she met the love of her life, Joseph C. Wickell. Together, they skated many happy miles together. They were married on May 29, 1940. Joe preceded her in death nine days before their 70th wedding anniversary. Together, they owned and operated Wickell's TV Service-later Wickell's Records and Appliances-at 516 Court Street for 48 years. Wanda and Joe both loved flowers and visited flower gardens everywhere. She was a longtime member of the Fulton Garden Club, and her garden was toured many times. She was an active member of Court Street Methodist Church. She was a lifetime member of the Fulton Medical Auxiliary and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. She was a member of the Kingdom Belles. For many years, she and Joe delivered Meals on Wheels. Wanda's church, family, friends, and God were what life was all about. Each one held a special place in her heart. Those remaining to cherish her memory are sons Michael Jo (Claire) of Fulton, and Gale (Debra) of Springfield, Missouri. She had five special grandchildren: Tracy (David) Hook of Columbia, Mo.; Melissa (Mitch) Berry of St. Peters, Mo.; Leigh K. Wickell of Seattle, Wash.; David Wickell of Fulton; Lauren (John) Schumacher of Honolulu, Hawaii. She also had five great-grandchildren: Matthew and Alex Hook, Maecy Sue and Mitchell Berry, and Laila Wickell-as well as a special niece, Joy Wesseldine of Columbia, several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her sister, Evelyn Frye, one granddaughter, and one great-grandson. Visitation will be at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton from 4:00 pm. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2020. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2020, at Callaway Memorial Gardens with Steve Mallinckrodt officiating.
