John Daniel Lester Baumgartner, 88, of Fulton, received the ultimate gift when he entered the gates of Heaven on his birthday, July 15, 2020. He was born in Fulton to the late John Clayton Baumgartner and the late Ima May (Baker) Baumgartner on July 15, 1932. On January 30, 1955, John was united in marriage to Oletha Fay (Landrum) Baumgartner. She survives his passing. John served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from McDonald Douglas where he worked as a machinist. An avid outdoors man, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. John was a volunteer of the Millersburg Fire Department and Millersburg Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. His memory will be cherished his wife of 65 years; sons, Daniel Frederick Baumgartner (Debra) of Ocean Springs, Miss., and Marty Jay Baumgartner (Lori) of Millersburg; four grandchildren, Dustin Jay Baumgartner (Megan Leeper), Darren Edrick Baumgartner (Rachel Peterson), Dyla Taylor (Andrew), and Dechelle Jacobs (Bryan); and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ella Louise Baumgartner. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2020, with Reverend Bob Frey officiating. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service. Private inurnment will be in Millersburg Cemetery.
