Mabel Lucelle Vaughn Fischer, 101, of Fulton, Mo.m passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Fulton Nursing and Rehab. Mabel was born August 30, 1918 in Guthrie, Missouri, the daughter of Hettie Elizabeth Dane Vaughn and Wilber Banks Vaughn. She married the love of her life, Marvin Riley Fischer on June 30, 1940. The wedding was on the front lawn of her parents, between two jacobs candles in full bloom and sweet smelling. The arch was made by the men, out of young saplings from Doc Daro's woods. The whole neighborhood was invited and came to have a good time. The marriage lasted 72 years. They had two children, Dale Marvin Fischer and Rita Darlene Fischer McKeller. She was a long time designer of beautiful cakes for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and celebrating church anniversaries. She was known as "The Cake Lady". She loved her family and was always helping others. She never met a stranger. Everyone loved hearing her memories of the old days. She wrote many pages of memories in her life. She loved life and everything about it. She was a lifetime member of the White Cloud Presbyterian Church and very active in the church. She is survived by her son, Dale Fischer (Sandra) and daughter, Rita McKeller; grandchildren, Loretta McKeller, Leslie Van Norman (Joe), Michael McKeller, Christina Russell, Stacy (Vince), Hughes Bryan (Ashlely) Fischer; great-grandchildren, Josh VanNorman ( Katy), Miranda VanNorman, Colleen VanNorman, Lillie McKeller, Connor Russell, Sheldon Russell, Alissa Choate, Brandon Hughes, Briar Fischer, Autumn Fischer, Leo McKeller, Maverick Cloud McKeller. She was preceded in death by her lifetime love, Marvin Fischer, in 2011; her parents, Wilber and Hettie Vaughn; her sisters, Helen (Frank) Kimbell and Joy (Charles) Underwood; and one grandson , Buddy McKeller. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 7:00 p.m. at Debo Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 8, 2020. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton, Mo. with Rev. Bill Nigus and Bruce Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in White Cloud Cemetery, Fulton, Mo. A special thank you to Fulton Nursing and Rehab for all their loving care of her. The staff was wonderful to her.
