David Wesley MillerJuly 7th, 2020
David Wesley Miller, age 59 of Auxvasse, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at University Hospital, Columbia, Missouri with his family by his side. He was born on May 10, 1961, the son of David Franklin and Bertha Elaine (Brooke) Miller in Chillicothe, Missouri. He attended school in Tina where he was in FFA, and graduated with the Class of 1979. He was also involved in 4-H. Wes then attended the University of Missouri in Columbia where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree, in Vocational Agriculture/ Horticulture, and later graduated with his Master's Degree. On his first date with Peggy Hohenfeldt, he told her his birth date and asked her when she was born. She was more than a little skeptical, so she made him get out his driver's license to prove the date. Turns out, they shared the same birth date! They married on June 3, 1984, in California, Missouri. He was a VO-AG teacher in California, Missouri, Pilot Grove, Missouri and his last place of employment was Fulton, Missouri. Wes was the FFA Advisor for all three schools. He liked fishing and hunting, working in the vegetable and flower gardens, and collecting knives. Wes and Peggy raised pumpkins that they sold at the Farmer's Market. He was so well-known for his pumpkins, that he was known as the "Pumpkin Man" by the little kids. Wes and Peggy enjoyed spending their time raising border collies and met many wonderful customers over the years. Something that many people didn't know about Wes was that he was really good at writing short stories and songs. If fact, one of the songs he wrote was played at his mother's funeral. He was an avid MU and KC Chiefs fan. Wes was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fulton, Missouri. Wes is survived by his wife Peggy of the home; his father, David Franklin Miller of Centralia, Missouri; two brothers, Russell Miller and wife Christy of Norborne, Missouri, and Kevin Miller and wife Robin of Lawrence, Kansas; one sister, Theresa Kite and husband Raymond of Columbia, Missouri; two nephews, Colton Kite and Tyler Miller; one niece, Shadow Farrant and husband Jason; and two great-nieces, Reagan Farrant and Keira Farrant.
