Wilbur Arthur Ewing, 83, of Fulton, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at St. Joseph Bluffs in Jefferson City. He was born on the family farm in Fulton on April 11, 1936, the son of the late Arthur Ewing and the late Gertrude (Backer) Ewing. Wilbur married Vivian O. (Gardner) Ewing on December 21, 1954. She preceded him in death on March 8, 2014. Wilbur served in the United States Air Force for more than 20 years. In his civilian life, he retired from Callaway II Water District where he worked in the Maintenance Department. Wilbur enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, farming, and his dogs. He always considered himself more of a rancher tending to his cattle and horses. Wilbur obtained his pilot's license and owned his own plane. He was a social person who enjoyed sitting outside visiting with people and spending time with his friends and family. Wilbur took every opportunity to make sure his sons saw new parts of the country and had a variety of experiences while growing up. Their family traveled the world and they still treasure the memories. His grandchildren had a special place in his heart. Wilbur is survived by two sons, Jim Ewing (Becky) of Fulton, and Chuck Ewing (Lori) of Jefferson City; five grandchildren, Mike, Dave, Tim, Grace, and Faith Ewing. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2020 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Unity Baptist Cemetery.
