KING Richard W. King, 78, of Fulton, Missouri, passed away following a valiant battle against cancer, on Wednesday, January 1, 2020. His sons and daughter-in-law were by his side. He was born on September 12, 1941, to Tommie and Wanda King in Memphis, Tennessee. Richard attended Caruthersville High School until his family moved to Jefferson City where he graduated from Jefferson City Senior High School in 1959. He served this nation proudly in the United States Air Force from 1962 until 1966, and Missouri Air National Guard from 1980 until 1988. He was employed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol from 1966 until 1998, being assigned to Kirkwood, Jefferson City and Poplar Bluff until his retirement in 1998. Richard enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends throughout his life. He moved to Fulton in 2009, to be closer to his children and grandchildren, this afforded him the ability to watch his grandchildren grow up and attend all of their sporting events. Richard is survived by two sons, Scott King and wife, Stacey of Fulton, and Ryan King of Columbia; three grandchildren, Andrew King and wife, Corina of Lacey, Wash., Joshua King of Springfield, and Dylan King and fiancé, Hillary of Fulton; three great-grandchildren, Anahi and Greyson of Lacey, Wash., and Leo of Fulton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-parents, Marie King and Ralph Lanier; sisters, Nancy Shell; and brother, Tommie King Jr. Family and friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton. A committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Riverview Cemetery in Jefferson City with Greg Smith officiating.
