Karen LuebbertFebruary 12th, 2020
Karen Luebbert, 67, of Fulton, died on Monday, February 10, 2020, at Landmark Hospital. She was born Karen Louise Wiehe on September 27, 1952, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of George and Louise (Deiselhorst) Wiehe, who preceded her in death. Karen graduated from William Woods College in 1974, and married Mike Luebbert shortly after on June 8, 1974. She and Mike made their home in Moberly, Missouri where Karen was the director of a center for children with multiple sclerosis until 1978, when her daughter Megan was born. She and Megan accompanied Mike to Indianapolis, Indiana where Kristen was born in 1982. Karen strongly believed in being in the home to give the girls a solid foundation in life. In 1987, they returned to Fulton so they could be near family. After the girls were in school, Karen worked as the secretary Ecumenical Ministries in Fulton until health issues forced her to retire. She fought a long battle with disabling illnesses until her passing. Karen loved going on winter warm locale vacations, visiting with her extended family poolside, and enjoying her many pets over the years. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Mike Luebbert; daughters, Megan Howser (Scott) of Fulton, and Kristen Wick (Joshua) of Chicago; grandchildren, Karoline Howser, Molly Wick, Finn Wick, and Teagan Wick; many brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; and cousin, Joan Jacobs of Newport R.I. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Reverend Thurman Hux officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Callaway Hills Animal Shelter, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251.
