Abbie Ruth Akers, 90, of Fulton, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at St. Mary's Hospital in Mexico. She was born in Centertown, Missouri on August 15, 1930 to the late William L. Butcher and the late Maude Ellen (Richardson) Butcher. Abbie was united in marriage to Diamond Lewis Young on October 5, 1946. He preceded her in death. She later married Charles Edward Akers on February 22, 1956. He preceded her in death on September 20, 1992. Abbie was a member of Reform Baptist Church for many years and also Dry Fork Baptist Church. Born with a caring nature, she worked as an aide and caregiver at Kingdom Nursing Home. Abbie sold subscriptions to the Kingdom Daily News and won a new car for selling the most subscriptions. She will be remembered as a loving mother and for having a smile and story for everyone she met. She was everyone's grandma and will be missed by her many friends. She will be fondly remembered by sons, Charles Lee Akers (Bonnie), Diamond Young, Roger Young (Anita); daughters, Linda Sue Davidson and Sally Ann LaGesse; daughter-in-law, Belinda Akers; sister, Opal Salmons; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and special "sister", Hazel Gerrard. In addition to her parents and husbands, Abbie was preceded in death by sons, Roy Lee Young Clifford Akers and infant son, Randal Ray; and 15 siblings. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Jason Akers officiating. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2020 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Steedman Cemetery.
