Robert Whitlow Craghead, 89, of Fulton, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at his home. Robert was born on June 24, 1931 in Green Ridge, Missouri to the late Kemmie McCall Craghead and Celia Mae Whitlow Craghead. He was united in marriage with Leetha Grace (Dunham) Craghead on September 10, 1951. She survives his passing. Robert was the father of three children, Paul Dean Craghead (Patsy), Kem Lee Craghead (Sue), and Constance Marie Craghead Oliver (Brian). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Michael James McCray (Melanie), Trevor Robert Craghead (Krystal), Erin Berace Craghead, Whitney Melissa Craghead Wrast (Jon), McCall Madeline Oliver Barden (John), Megan Grace Oliver, and Peyton Charles Oliver; and four great-grandchildren, Brock Michael McCray, Quinton James McCray, Ellie Brook Craghead, and Connor Whitlow Craghead. Robert graduated from Fulton High School in the Class of '49. He attended Westminster College for two years, then transferred to the University of Missouri Columbia earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Science and a Masters Degree in Biochemistry. He was an industrial manager with Harbison-Walker Refractories for 36 years culminating as Superintendent of the Fulton Works. He served on the Fulton City Council for eight years, on the utility committee for 17 years and was Mayor of Fulton for eight years. During his mayoral term, the new city hall was built. He served on the Kingdom Projects Board, the Callaway Chamber of Commerce Board, past president of the Fulton Colleges Board of Associates, and a member of Fulton Kiwanis Club for over 50 years. Robert, the owner of Craghead Farms in the Hams Prairie area, was also an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Fulton, serving as an elder, on the administration, and property and outreach committees. Robert's family would like to extend their appreciation to Hospice Compassus. Their compassionate care enabled Robert to remain at home and be near his family. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Aaron White officiating. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Private burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
