James Richard Barnes, 80, of Fulton, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City. He was born on August 7, 1939 in Millersburg, Missouri, the son of the late Herman Barnes and the late Mary Bell (Branch) Barnes. Richard was married to Delores Jean (Hoover) Barnes on October 1, 1958. She preceded him in death on April 3, 2010. Richard worked at Kingdom Feed. Callaway Hospital, and retired from AP Green. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and softball. He was a gifted story-teller and loved spending time with his family. Those remaining to mourn his passing include children, Jimmy Barnes (Teresa) of Butler; Debbie Maddox (Rocky) of Fulton, Sandra McGaughey of Fulton, Eddie Barnes (Madonna) of Fulton, and Dennis Barnes (Ashley) of Fulton; sisters, Thelma Gene Brown, Dorothy Ann Hazlett, and Betty Loucille Malone; 16 grandchildren, Angie Gresham (George), Jamie Barnes (Darren Dillon), Courtney Davis (Thadd), Nathan Powell, Dustin Powell, Austen Henderson (Sha), Alvin Maddox (Cyndi), Clinton Maddox (Holly), Tommy Barnes, Matthew Bowen (Tiffany), Todd Barnes (Amanda Lorentzen), Izak Barnes (Katelyn England), Trena Barnes, Alexis Barnes, James Barnes, and KyMani Barnes; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by siblings, Ruby Elizabeth, Anna Marie Cook, William Wesley Barnes, Lela Ruth White, Robert Lee Barnes, Ralf Edward Barnes, and Roll Fredrick Barnes. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Mike Crowson officiating. Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
