Barbara Louise Stassel, 85, of Fulton, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Chaplain Donald M. Stassel; sons, Joel (Marilee), Carl (Carrie), and Todd, (Joy); grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Christina (Bletcher) Cohrs; and an infant brother, Joel. Barbara was a dedicated wife and mother, dedicating her life to nurturing and caring for her family. Barbara was a devoted pastor's wife to the churches she and Don served and to the Chaplain program at Fulton State Hospital. She was chairman of the Docent's Program and received an award in recognition of her leadership and service to the Winston Churchill Memorial and Library in 2004 from Westminster College. Barbara was the coordinator of teas for the Churchill Memorial during her time of service. For 20 years, Barbara worked as a teacher's aide at Missouri School for the Deaf where she played piano for many graduations. She loved God, family, her cats, and preparing holiday meals for the Fulton Fire Department. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2019 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Chaplain Bart Larson officiating. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
