Millard James Lander

Millard James Lander, 86, of Fulton, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2019, at his home. He was born on January 10, 1933 in Fulton, the son of the late Harvey Lester Lander and the late Alma Catherine (Willenbrink) Lander. On September 3, 1955, Millard was united in marriage to Thelma (Taylor) Lander. She survives his passing. Millard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he worked at Ovid Bell Press for 20 years. He owned Kings Row from 1978 until his retirement and did side work as an auctioneer. A man of great faith, he was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and served as Parish Council President. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards. Millard's memory will be cherished by his wife of 64 years; daughter, Kathleen Schmitz (Dennis) of Centertown; sister, Patricia Baker (Bob) of Overland Park, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Kyle Harris; brother, Louis Lander; sisters, Margaret Stack and Mary Ruth Taylor; and granddaughter, Christine Ewing.
