Leroy Hampton

Leroy Hampton, 79, of Williamsburg, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019, in his own home. He was born on February 18, 1940, in Steele, Mo. He was the son of the late Claude Hampton and Flossie (Brewer) Hampton. On March 1, 1958, Leroy was united in marriage to Margaret (Hartman) Hampton. Leroy was of the Lutheran faith. He worked as a Union Ironworker out of Local 396 in St. Louis for 56 years. Leroy enjoyed fishing and hunting. During his retirement, his passion was always improving his home in any way he could and taking care of his grandchildren. Leroy's first priority was always taking care of his family, especially his grandchildren. Being surrounded by his loved ones brought him great joy. Those remaining to cherish his memory include his son, William Charles Hampton (Amy) of Fulton; daughters, Mary Carol Bell (Jim) of Farmington, Dorothy Lee Watson of Carrollton, Linda Marie Hampton of Fulton, and Sherry Ann Brock of Fulton; brother, Larry Hampton of Waterloo, Ill.; sisters, Pat Pender of St. Louis, Wanda Healy of Sikeston, Teresa Cummins (Raymond) of St. Louis, Virginia Gregory (Gary) of St. Louis, and Connie Scott (Charlie) of St. Louis; grandchildren, Alison Hinnah (Jesse), Andrew Gwinn, Brandon Rook, Chelsea Rook, Joseph Tiger, Christopher Stone, Timothy Evans, Dawn Via, Jerry Evans, Michael Boggs Jr., Mark Boggs, Amy Boggs, Aaron Boggs, Keith Watson, Jennifer Watson, Andrea Watson, and Kevin Watson; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Margaret Louise Hampton; son, Keith Jon Hampton; beloved granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Boggs; and siblings, Joyce Tyler, Howard Hampton, Ester Davis, and Judy Hampton. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Chris Heaton officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
