Carl Dean Thomas, 86, of Fulton, passed away at University of Missouri Hospital on Monday, October 28, 2019. He was born in Cedar City, Missouri on November 24, 1932, the son of the late William Thomas and the late Laura Emma (Brandis) Thomas. On July 4, 1954, Carl was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth "Diby" (Van Reen) Thomas. She survives his passing. Carl was proud to serve in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church. Carl retired from Harbison Walker where he worked as a lift truck operator. Carl enjoyed fishing, playing cards with friends, watching the Cardinals play baseball, and most of all spending time with family. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years; son, David Thomas of Fulton; daughter, Becky Weber (Barry) of O'Fallon; brother, Doyle C. Thomas of Fulton; sisters, E. Jeanne Epperson (Bob) of Fulton, and Wanda J. Gaunt (Tom) of Macon; grandchildren, Corey Bommel (Natassia) of Ozark, Chelsea Bommel of New York City, Lexi Steur of O'Fallon, and Jackson Thomas; and great- grandson, Gavin Bommel. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, William L. Thomas, Shirley A. Young and Robert D. Thomas. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Reverend Rebecca Dunger Peak officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family wishes to have a Memorial donation to Court Street United Methodist Church or Callaway Senior Center in Fulton, Mo.
