William Ray "Bill" Clevenger, 85, of Fulton, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019, at Fulton Nursing and Rehab. He was born on July 16, 1934 in Fulton, the son of the late William H. Clevenger and the late Ruby (Blakley) Clevenger. Bill was united in marriage to Bessie Mae (Voyles) Clevenger on February 26, 1955. She survives his passing. Bill worked for many years as a general contractor. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Fulton. An avid outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed hunting, and competitive shooting sports. He was proud to serve as an officiant for the Bianchi Cup. Bill was also a talented poet. Above all else, Bill was a family man who enjoyed time spent with his family. In addition to his wife of 64 years, Bill is survived by children, Mary Van Orden (Dan) of Fulton, Mitch Clevenger (Kathryn) of Columbia, Brenda Clevenger (Cathy) of Anderson, Ind., and Kathy Deatherage of Mokane; grandchildren, Brandon Van Orden (Andrea), Payson Van Orden, Lindsay Kline (Ryan), Jessica Clevenger, Keely Clevenger, Brett Salmons, and Andrew Salmons; and eight great- grandchildren. Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by brother, Leo Grant Clevenger. It was Bill's wish that he be cremated with no services held.
