Helen Elizabeth Austin, 98, of Williamsburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2019, at Fulton Presbyterian Manor. She was born in Essex, Missouri on February 25, 1921, the daughter of the late Ernest Spradlin and the late Golda (Dove) Spradlin. On June 4, 1941, Helen was united in marriage to Leland E. Austin. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2012. Helen was a woman of great faith and a member of Unity Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and served as the church secretary. Her hobbies included cooking, reading, gardening, quilting, and playing scrabble. Helen was always active in her community and in the lives of her family. Helen will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three sons, Jerry Leland Austin and wife Beverly of Fulton, Everett Arlin Austin ad wife Dianna of Fulton, and Dwight Austin and wife Patsy of Williamsburg; seven grandchildren, Todd Austin and wife Melissa of Fulton, Kevin Austin and Katherine of Williamsburg, Amy Umbright (Kevin) of Branson, Matthew Austin and wife Anastasia of Leawood, Kan., Keith Austin and wife Jennell of Fulton, Laura Morts and husband Ryan of Fulton, and John Carey Austin of Fulton; 14 great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Jacob Austin, Kaylee and Carson Umbright, Naiya and Finn Austin, Kyle and Rhian Austin, Sydney Payton, and Kaelyn Morts, Tyler Austin, and Natalie and Gwen Austin. In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by grandson, Brady E. Austin; and siblings, William Spradlin, Ruth Owens, James "Tommy" Spradlin, and Francis Spradlin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastors Robert Korff and Delbert Hampton officiating. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2019 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Unity Baptist Cemetery.
