Freddie Gene Baysinger, 85, of Fulton, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2019. He was born on August 25, 1934, the second of nine children in the family of the late Samuel Harbin Baysinger and Orba Leona (McCuine) Baysinger. On December 31, 1954, Freddie was united in marriage to Wilma Fern Davis. She preceded him in death on December 26, 2008. Freddie began a military career with the Missouri Army National Guard at an early age, including service with Company B of the 175th Military Police Battalion in Germany during the Korean War. Upon return from active duty, Freddie served as a full-time guardsman as a non-commissioned officer and a warrant officer. He retired from the National Guard as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 in 1986. After retiring from the National Guard, Freddie continued his military service in an Army Reserve unit in Columbia. His post-military career included being the director of the Callaway County Emergency Operations Center and a risk manager for the City of Fulton. At the time of his retirement from the city in 1994, he was the Parks and Recreation director. In addition to his public service, Freddie utilized his knowledge of electronics in his post-retirement activities. He is survived by three sons, Timothy (Linda) Baysinger, Dennis (Beth) Baysinger, and David (Bobbi) Baysinger of Fulton; sisters, Clara O'Brien of Hallsville, Mo. and Sharon (James) Warren of Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Steve (Leigh Anne) of Overland Park, Kan. He is also survived by special friend, Loretta Cleveland; grandchildren, Jennifer (Bradley) West of Trimble, Mo., Amy (Brandon) Hargrove of O'Fallon, Mo., Kellyn Baysinger of Mission, Kan., Ryan (Alyssa) Baysinger of Kansas City, Erin (Zach) Fouch of New Bloomfield, Mo., Paige (Caleb) Braun of Fulton, and Brooke Baysinger of Springfield; four great-grandchildren, Andrew Fouch, Madison Fouch, Colten West, and Brooks West; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Freddie was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marjorie Moutray and Patricia Dudley; and brothers, Samuel "Butch" Baysinger, Gayle Baysinger, and Daniel Baysinger. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
