Dorthy Belle Crawford

Dorothy Belle Crawford, 81, of Auxvasse, passed away at University of Missouri Hospital on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. She was born in Steedman, Missouri on May 8, 1938, the daughter of the late Ray Mealy and the late Edna (Lalumendre) Mealy. On May 22, 1960, Dorothy was united in marriage to Charley A. Crawford. He passed away on July 11, 2013. A talented seamstress, Dorothy enjoyed piecing quilts and sewing. She loved to garden and can her harvest. She also liked to fish. Dorothy was an active member of Rising Sun Baptist Church and could always be counted on to volunteer for Bible School and to help with church meals. Also active in her community, Dorothy was a member of The Hatton Community Club and was well known for her pies at the Hatton Craft Day. She is survived by sons, Greg Crawford of Columbia, and Gary Crawford (Judy) of Hatton; daughter, Marla McCowan (Matt) of Hatton; brother, David Mealy (Julie) of New Bloomfield; sisters, Deloris Kiger (Glenn) of Novinger, and Cathy Stone (Terry) of Centertown; grandchildren, Michaela Willis (Peter), John Adam Crawford (Tricia), William Crawford, Joseph Crawford; Zachary McCowan, and Josh McCowan; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2019, at Rising Sun Baptist Church. Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
