Sue Newland, 74, of Auxvasse, died Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at her home in Auxvasse. Sue was born January 30, 1945, the daughter of Paul and Virginia (Wenger) Riechers. On May 25, 1966, in Springfield, Ill., she married Charles Newland who survives. Sue was co-owner of the Mud Puddle Ceramics which was just off the square in Mexico. It closed several years ago. Most recently she was a manager at Show Me Oil Company in Auxvasse. She worked there for 25 years retiring in 2008. She was a Baptist. In addition to her husband Charles, survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Sue Shepherd, (Scott) Holts Summit, and Tamara Lynn Young, Boonville; six brothers, John Riechers, Columbia, Howard Riechers, Kingdom City, Ken Riechers (Trena), Mexico, Ed Riechers, Auxvasse, Gary Riechers, Clute, Texas, and Richard Riechers, Center; three sisters, Pat Stephens, San Antonio, Texas, Marge Baker, Moberly, Kay Daugherty, Thompson; and four grandchildren, Reese Shepherd, Megan Young, Luke Young, and Kellie Young. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Bill Riechers and Donald Riechers. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, December 2, 2019, at Pickering Funeral Home in Mexico, with Bro. Frank Whitney officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Auxvasse Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
