Spent three seasons with the Hornets

Family matters are drawing Trey Barrow away from coaching and education for now.
Barrow has resigned after three seasons as head football coach of the Fulton Hornets. A former kicker and punter at the University of Missouri, Barrow logged a 5-25 record in directing the Hornets.
Barrow and his wife are expecting their first child in June.
“This was a really tough decision for me,” Barrow said Wednesday. “I love the kids here, I love coaching the team and I love the high school. It was a great opportunity when I came here three years ago, and I’m thankful they gave it to me.
“This came down to a personal decision for me, and what was better for me and our family.”
Barrow pointed out while roster numbers were limited, particularly last season, he was encouraged by the dedication he witnessed from his squad.
“We didn’t have a ton of players, but the ones that were there wanted to get better every day,” Barrow said. “I really thought we were making some progress with what was happening.
“I hope the kids remember all the things I taught them, but I also learned a lot from them.”
Barrow did not rule out a return to coaching at some point down the road.
“I love football and I’m going to miss coaching it,” he said. “But with a baby and a new career path, that first year I’m not going to consider it.
“I want to keep my hand in it. Who knows what the future will hold.”
Fulton has begun a search to find Barrow’s replacement.
