Junior high softball: Fulton Middle School wins Kirksville Tournament

KIRKSVILLE - The Fulton Lady Hornets went 3-0, defeating Highland 6-5 in eight innings, Kirksville 11-8 and Moberly 19-0 to take first place Saturday at the Kirksville Tournament.

Pitcher Natalie Underwood struck out 12 and went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs batted in and a run scored to power FMS (5-1) in the win against Highland.

Catcher Layla Underwood was 4-for-4 with a triple, a double, three RBI and a run scored to fuel the Lady Hornets' triumph against Kirksville.

Shortstop Grace Evans finished 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI and four runs scored to guide FMS in the romp against Moberly. Pitcher Maddie Bright threw a no-hitter and logged eight strikeouts.

The Lady Hornets play Tuesday at Hallsville.
