Cardinals to host Royals in exhibition game

The St. Louis Cardinals will host the Kansas City Royals in an exhibition game later this month at Busch Stadium.

The team announced Monday the game is scheduled for a 3:05 p.m., Wednesday, July 22. It will be televised by both Fox Sports Midwest and Fox Sports Midwest-Plus.

It will be the first exhibition game in St. Louis since the Cardinals hosted the Mariners in a pair of contests April 24-25, 1995.

It will be the final of three exhibition games for the Royals. Kansas City announced it will host Houston on July 20 and 21 at Kauffman Stadium. Both of those games are also scheduled to be televised by Fox Sports Midwest, with start times of 7:05 p.m. and 1:05 p.m., respectively.

It is the only exhibition game scheduled so far for the Cardinals, who are scheduled to open the 60-game regular season Friday, July 24, with a three-game series against the Pirates at Busch Stadium.

The Royals will start their 60-game slate July 24 with the first of a three-game series against the Indians in Cleveland.

St. Louis and Kansas City will meet in a pair of three-game series in the regular season.

The Cardinals will host the Royals from Aug. 24-26, with the teams meeting Sept. 21-23 in Kansas City.

Also on Monday, it was announced the 2020 Cardinals Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony has been postponed due to safety concerns about COVID-19.

The 2020 class of Tom Herr, John Tudor and Bill White will be formally enshrined at the 2021 ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 21.
